PATIENT INFORMATION

First Visit  

Welcome to our practice! Thank you for choosing us to provide your dental care.  This is an exciting time for the dental profession as many new techniques and materials afford us the opportunity to provide superior care for our patients.  Healthy teeth and gums can have a positive effect on your overall health and well-being.  Our office combines the latest dental knowledge and technology together with care and compassion to provide gentle, family-orientated dental care to the adults and children of this community.  We hope your relationship with our office will be an effective and satisfying one.

 

YOUR INITIAL VISIT

 

Your first visit is dedicated to the determination of your present dental condition.  The initial appointment (except in cases of emergency) will take between 1 and 2 hours and include:
  • Complete health history
  • Exam of teeth
  • Exam of gums
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Necessary x-rays (we use digital radiography which greatly reduces any exposure to harmful radiation) 
  • Visual tour of your mouth with an intra-oral camera so you can see what we see
  • Thorough discussion of any recommended treatment

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.

The American Heart Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recommend patients with the following conditions take an antibiotic prior to any procedure (such as a cleaning or other manipulation of teeth and/or gums) which may cause a patient's local existing bacteria to be introduced to the rest of the body.  Taking radiographs or an exam of your teeth and gums does not usually need premedication.  Please call our office if you have a condition listed below to discuss the need for an antibiotic or if you have any questions regarding this recommendation.
